As part of a yearly checkup I was subjected to a hearing test where they put headphones on you and ask you if you can hear various tones. Pure sine waves of various tones in each ear. I was thinking, "man, this is too easy - throw in some QRM, QRN, and QSB and make it a more realistic test!"

If only copying CW DX were as easy! :D

If you put in the effort it gets easier. Like any skill you have to keep practicing it.

the best training i ever had for copying CW thru QRM was the fact that i had a Hallicrafters S20-R receiver for my station back in the '50s--it heard a lot of signals--all at once, all within the bandpass--

that receiver alone taught me how to hear what u wanted and to ignore the rest--stood me in good stead years later when i hunted down and copied the bad guys who hunkered down in, around, and under some of the nastiest QRM imaginable seeking to avoid interception by the good guys(Me and those like me--

OH GEE, NOW I HAVE DONE IT--MEMORY TRIP HERE I COME!!
