The contest has started. I hope to spend a decent amount of time with the headphones on. This year I am entering with my dx crystal set.

Here is my 2008 RadioContest entry. It is my recently built dx crystal radio which I affectionately call my #73. Further details about this set is on my website page.

This is a dual coil receiver. The coils are wound with 660/46 litz wire. The unit on the left accepts the connections from the antenna and ground. There is a tuned circuit that helps with the selectivity and also allows passing of the signals to the detector unit.

The detector unit uses all high quality parts, starting with the big litz spider coil. This is a contra coil. Switching between the high and low band is accomplished with the homemade link switch on the left side of the detector board.

The detector has two diodes, feeding separate audio output circuits. This is still in the experimental evaluation stage to determine if this actually helps reception, or is just a waste of money. :)

The headphones are my PiezoPhones. My antenna is a wire up about 20 feet and is 120 feet long.
