Seems this contest is getting international..nice. Yesterday I found excellent conditions
for receiving, I was able to catch almost all stations I heard the three nights before.
At least there were a few new ones as well. Nevertheless my farthest distance is smaller
than Corne's yet but not that bad for a crystal receiver (as I hope). The funny thing is
that it is much harder to receive stations from neighboring Slovenia than from much
more distant places in Europe.

The crystal radio tunes the broadcast band as well as the shortwave
band, both are split into two subbands. To keep the receiver not too
big, I was using closed ferrite cores from Epcos, P18-11-M33 for the BC
band and RM5-K1 for the SW band. The coils are all done using two
paralleled litz wires 80 x 0.02mm except the 1µH coils which use two
paralled litz wires of silver-plated copper strands. Actually, this is
the same wire as I used for the wiring, the insulation of the
silver-plated litz wire is made of Teflon, which should not cause much
losses as I hope.
