 The small coil at the left is the wave trap coil. Its connected to the cap thats laying on its back (it won't stay in position if its upright). The center coil is the antenna tuner coil, attached to the multigang cap just to the right of the cap on its back, and furthest to the right is the tank coil, attached to the large AVC towards the right side of the bottom rail. The trap coil is one of the two strands of 24ga speaker wire (all I had available at the moment), 35 turns wound on a 50 count CD cake box top, the antenna tuner coil is 50 turns of one strand of 16ga speaker wire on a 100 count CD-R cake box top, and the tank coil is 57 turns of the other strand of 16Ga speaker wire on a similar CD-R cake box, with taps at 7, 17, 27, 37, and 47 turns. The diode is marked "G1" or maybe "G7", or the G COULD be a 6, and was scavenged from a Philco/FORD TT-154 car radio tuner. The coil rack/rails are a recycled/repurposed tray table stand with a couple pieces of scrap oak my younger brother had laying around. You can see my clevite brush phones hanging on the left cross bar of the rail rack. Over the top of the left end of the center coil, on the window frame, you can see my antenna to ground shorting device. |
