Soapbox

D. Schmarder: Off to a good start. Band conditions decent. One tube superhet could have a little better selectivity in some parts. Just takes a little more skill and careful coupling between the antenna and receiver coils.

D. Windom:I ended up doing a little better than I was expecting from the start. I just had to be patient! I could hear many more stations than I logged, but couldn't separate them enough to understand what I was hearing. You'll notice how there's not much above 1000 on my log. 1110 and 1240 made it very hard to get anything up there, although I did manage (with the help of my traps) to squeak in between and briefly hear KSL 1160.
Overall I had fun! I'll probably get to work on something a bit more selective, although maybe not until next summer as I'll be off to college at the end of September.

R. Lenski: I had a blast tweaking my set before the contest and using it during the actual event. I was hoping to grab 60+ contacts, and my unofficial tally ended up at 107. (I still have to check my log for duplicates and etc.) So, I'm pretty pleased with how things turned out. Looking back I'm glad I went with something I had built a few months before rather than try to finish something before the contest started. Anyway, I think that I caught the contest bug. I hope every one else had fun and I hope that we do this again.
