Welcome Contesters
Hello and welcome to the Homebrew RadioContest pages. This yearly contest is sponsored by the
The RadioBoard Forums. This is a fun contest for homemade radio
builders to test their favorite projects. Below are the rules for the contest.
If you want to enter, just read the rules and when the contest date arrives, listen and write down
the stations you hear. No pre-registering is required. When the contest is over, send me the results.
Good luck!
The 2012 RadioBoard Contest will start in July 2012. The updated rules will be
published before the contest starts. There aren't many changes expected, mainly
changing the dates.

2011 Rules
When: July 22, 2011 starting at 1201 local time until August 6, 2011 at 1159 local time.
Who may enter: This contest is open to all homebrew radio builders and users anywhere in the world and beyond.
Allowed Radios: Any radio from a crystal set and up are allowed. Radios made with tubes, transistors, IC's are allowed.
However the entry must be homebrew or a heavily restored radio. Multiple radios can be entered, but each radio is a separate entry.
Logging: The entry log has to contain the following information: Logging number (#001, 002, 003 etc.), Date, Time, Station Call, and Frequency. Transmitter location would be nice if you can do it.
Valid Reception: Each station logged must be identified. Call signs are always the best, but a best guess effort (program format, local phone number heard, language etc.) is allowed too.
Scoring: Each station heard counts as one point. As simple as that.
Entry Classes: There are 5 entry classes. Separate log entries and scoring will be kept for each class. The same receiver can be used for different classes, but the logs should be separate:
LW MW-XTAL Class: 0.0 - 1.71 mhz. Passive radios only (crystal sets)
SW-XTAL Class 1.71 - 30 mhz. (SWBC, HAM) Passive radios only (crystal sets)
LW-MW Class: 0.00 - 1.71 mhz. All other radios.
SW Class 1.71 - 30 mhz. (SWBC) All other radios.
HAM Class 1.8 - 30 mhz. (HAM) All other radios.
Deadline: All entries must be received before August 25, 2011
What to enter: Please enter your log and a short description of your radio. Dave won't be doing individual pages this year.
Who to send entries to: Entries should be sent to Rob Lenski
for judging. Please send a Cc: to
dhmr@makearadio.com (Dave Schmarder) for publication here.
